Is Absolut Elyx manually- or hand-crafted?
LindsayElyx is the result of manual operation, expertise, and personal supervision. How is Absolut Elyx distilled?
AlexWe use the copper distillation method, which is a natural way of removing any impurities. It also helps to define the exceptionally refined character found in Absolut Elyx. During the production of raw spirit, copper packets are manually added to each batch, and then exchanged at regular intervals.
Through copper catalyzation – a kinetic process – the copper packets react with and remove any sulfur remnants, which results in an absolutely pure spirit. Each batch of Elyx is then distilled in our 1921 copper column still — with columns, pumps, and hand-forged pipes made of copper. This vintage still plays an integral part in the making of Elyx, as it makes full use of the exceptional and naturally purifying qualities of the copper. Our refined copper distillation is what gives Elyx its distinctive character and unique, silky texture.

Do other vodka makers use copper? What is unique about your production method?
ThomasCopper has unique qualities and is therefore used in many types of spirit production. What is the difference between Single Estate Wheat and Winter Wheat?
RebeccaSingle Estate wheat refers to the fact that all of the wheat used to produce Elyx comes from just one single estate, while winter wheat refers to the season when the wheat is harvested. To produce Elyx, we use wheat only from Råbelöf, a neighboring estate close to the Absolut distillery. And, as Elyx is produced in limited volumes, the quality of the wheat is essential to both the production and the end-result.
-
What ingredients are used for producing Elyx and where do they come from?
JanElyx is produced using only the very finest natural ingredients. Each part of the production, from the planting of the first seed all the way through to distillation and bottling, is performed within a 15 mile radius in the Åhus region of southern Sweden. This makes Elyx 100% traceable. Elyx is distilled exclusively from single-estate winter wheat from Råbelöf, a family-owned country estate that delivers top-quality wheat, which features the perfect balance of starch and protein. The water comes from the natural underground aquifer upon which our copper distillery rests. Filtered through the limestone bedrock, our water is exceptionally pure, low in minerals, and incredibly soft.
