OUR UNIQUE DISTILLATION PROCESS INVOLVES SACRIFICIAL COPPER
For Absolut Elyx, there are two stages to the distillation process: the first distillation produces the raw spirit; the second, called rectification, gives us our fine spirit. Copper plays a key role in both stages, removing any impurities and defining the pure taste of Elyx.
First Distillation stage

During the first distillation stage we add thousands of sacrificial copper packets, creating as much contact as possible between the spirit and the purifying copper. These packets react with, and remove, unwanted sulphur compounds in a process called copper catalyzation. They are sacrificial because the copper packets are only used once before being replaced, which is unique to Elyx.
Second Distillation stage
In the second stage of the distillation process, we rectify the raw spirit even further, but not in any ordinary still. For this, we have gone back to our vintage copper column still from 1921. And here again, we make full use of the exceptional and naturally purifying qualities of copper. Every part of the still, from the columns to the pumps and hand-forged pipes, is made out of copper.

No computers have been involved in the production of Absolut Elyx
Built before the age of computers, our vintage still is operated entirely by hand, using traditional skills and techniques passed down through the generations and now known only by a select few. Relying on human intuition and feel, Krister and his team adjust every handle, knob and lever manually to create the natural, pure taste, silky mouthfeel and smooth finish for which Elyx is famous.
Before Elyx can be enjoyed though, it first needs to be diluted and bottled.
