COPPER PLAYS A CENTRAL ROLE IN OUR UNIQUE DISTILLATION PROCESS
We are one of the only vodkas in the world that distills their raw spirit because we have complete control over production from seed to bottle. Within the vodka category most producers buy their raw NGS (neutral grain spirit) in bulk from an industrial manufacturer.
Copper plays a significant role in the crafting of Elyx in two different applications.
Of course the use of copper is in no way unique to the production of spirits – but it’s the way in which we employ copper to the production of Elyx which makes the most difference.
During the first distillation phase, when we concentrate pure alcohol to make the raw spirit, we add thousands of Sacrificial Copper Packets, creating as much contact as possible between spirit and the naturally purifying copper.
These packets remove unwanted sulphuric compounds through the process of copper catalyzation. The copper is sacrificial because the packets are used only once before being replaced.
